Principal´s Message
Bethlehem College is a very safe school environment that values behaviours and attitudes of care, compassion and harmonious relationships. We understand as educators and parents that you are entrusting into our care, your most precious possessions- your children. Every child is precious to us, every child is known to us. We promote the role of parents in knowing, understanding and sharing in the education of their daughters and provide a variety of formal and informal opportunities for parental involvement in the College including an active Parents and Friends association.
Although Bethlehem College is 131 years old, we remain at the forefront of providing the very best education for our young women. Our school is recognised for a broad, contemporary and relevant curriculum which caters for all learners and equips them to become resilient, independent and interdependent life long learners who will have the capacity to change, adapt and contribute greatly in an ever changing world. This curriculum is supported by innovative approaches to teaching and learning from experienced, successful and dedicated teachers and support staff and 21st century learning facilities.
The College has a long and proud history of academic excellence. Our students consistently achieve outstanding results in external examinations such as: NAPLAN, the School Certificate and the Higher School Certificate. 2011 was another year of academic success with wonderful performances in a variety of areas.
The Sisters of Charity have always been trailblazers in education, health care and ministering to the poor and the marginalized. They are strong, hard working resilient women who believe that nothing is impossible while the love of God guides them. These are the same characteristics that we strive to instil in our young women at the College. It is this proud tradition that has been lived out through the work of previous principals and one that I look forward to becoming a part of as I begin my Principalship at the college from the beginning of 2012.
